Week 1, Day 2

(Day 1 was, of course, a non-starter, as it was a working weekend and I was entirely too tired to write a blog post.)

This week’s habit is spending 8 hours in bed and getting at least 7 hours of sleep. A fit bit sleep score over 80 is reaching for the moon, but it is another metric I wil track. This morning, my app told me I was in bed for for just under 8 hours (9:30pm to 5:23am) and slept 6 hours, thirty minutes. My sleep score was 71. So there is definitely progress to be made with this habit. I am a notoriously bad sleeper. I have had weeks of not falling asleep within three hours of going to bed, and of course the others in my household fall asleep while their heads are falling onto the pillow, so there is no sympathy for me.

I am trying things that are supposed to help. Hot shower at bed time, followed by Natural Calm (a magnesium supplement) and the Rain Rain app, which sounds like a rain storm and does a decent job of blocking out the dog’s sigh, partner’s snores and the ambient old house noise.

Will it work? Who knows? But I have 80 weeks to try.
